The answer

The regular prayers are twelve rak'ahs: four before Dhuhr and two after it, two after Maghrib, two after Isha, and two before Fajr. There is no regular Sunnah prayer for Asr, but it is recommended to pray four rak'ahs before its obligatory prayer, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "May Allah have mercy on a person who prays four rak'ahs before Asr." All supererogatory prayers consisting of four rak'ahs are prayed two rak'ahs at a time.
