If banknotes reach the (minimum threshold) at the beginning of the hawl (lunar year), then their value decreases below the nisab during the year, is not obligatory on them. If the money reaches the nisab in Muharram and the hawl is completed in , then one-quarter of a tenth (2.5%) must be paid, provided the amount has not fallen below the nisab; if it has, Zakat is not obligatory. There is no difference in paying Zakat by calculating it at a specific rate as long as the money has reached the nisab. If the hawl is completed before Ramadan, it is not permissible to delay Zakat until then.
