The book "Shu'ab al-Iman" (Branches of Faith) by al-Bayhaqi is a magnificent work that elucidates the branches of faith indicated by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Bayhaqi authored it after reviewing a book by al-Halimi and being impressed by it, and due to the need for such a book in his era, in which discussions about the fundamentals of religion, the meaning of faith, and its increase and decrease, became prevalent. The book is divided into twelve chapters that address the reality of faith, its increase and decrease, making exceptions in it, its terminology, the faith of the تقليدي (follower) and the مرتاب (doubter), among other topics, concluding with a clarification of the seventy-seven branches of faith and the reason the author chose to derive them to this number. The book was published in twenty volumes, authenticated by Dr. Abd al-Ali Hamid.
