Is it permissible to utilize the time when people are celebrating the New Year for acts of worship and obedience, such as Qiyam al-Layl (night prayer) and supplication, with the intention that the worship is for Allah while others are preoccupied with celebrations?

A Muslim utilizes any time to draw closer to Allah through worship. However, one must beware of dedicating a specific time for worship without a valid religious proof, as this constitutes innovation in religion. This includes dedicating non-Muslim holidays to acts of worship. While worshiping during times of people's heedlessness has merit, this does not necessitate dedicating non-Muslim holidays to worship without proof. As for the supplication: "O Allah, I am before You and Your mercy, and I worship You, while people celebrate the New Year, and I am before You and Your mercy," there is no religious prohibition in it.
