What is the ruling on sleeping in mosques?

If the sleeper is a stranger or homeless, they are not to be prevented from sleeping in the mosque except out of necessity (such as official instructions or fear of harm to the mosque). In such a case, they should be informed gently and kindly about the need for closure.
