Is expiation required of one who swore falsely without prior intention to swear, in order to justify a certain situation?

You intentionally lied, when you could have told them your excuse, and you must repent to Allah. As for your oath, if it was a vain oath (laghw yamin), then there is no sin upon you and no expiation.
