Does a product that has been transformed from an unlawful origin, such as the transformation of wine into vinegar or pork into salt, remain unlawful or become lawful? And is it permissible to use a manufactured product in which an unlawful substance was used in its production, such as cheese made from an animal not slaughtered according to Islamic law?
If impurities undergo a complete transformation, becoming an entirely different substance, the majority of scholars hold the view that they become pure. Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah affirmed this opinion. However, if a forbidden substance is used in manufacturing a product and does not undergo a transformation, then the product becomes impure.
