What is the ruling on a sister sleeping through prayer when she is able to perform it, and the mother refuses to wake her, claiming she is excused due to sleep, while the questioner believes she has no excuse?

A sleeping person is in one of two situations:

1. Sleeping before the prayer time enters: The basic ruling is that they are excused because the pen is lifted from them. However, if they predominantly believe they will not wake up, then they are sinful according to a group of jurists. 2. Sleeping intentionally after the prayer time has entered without the intention to wake up: This person is negligent and sinful by their action.

The ruling on waking a sleeping person: If the sleeping person is sinful due to their sleep, it is obligatory for others to wake them. If the sleeping person is not negligent, waking them is not obligatory according to some scholars, but it is recommended. Some scholars said: It is obligatory to wake a sleeping person for prayer, even if they are not disobedient.

The mother is mistaken in preventing her daughter from being woken, because obedience is not in abandoning an obligation.
