What is the religious duty towards a sister who has been married (contracted) and it became apparent that her husband had consummated the marriage with her without her family's knowledge, taking into consideration the potential family problems that might result from disclosing this?

Once the legal marriage contract (aqd) is concluded, the woman becomes a wife, and everything permissible for other spouses becomes permissible for her husband from her. However, it is advisable to delay sexual intercourse until the wedding night to avoid potential harms. The Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas was asked about this and replied that it is permissible for the husband to do with his wife, who has been brought into his home, what is permissible, such as looking, kissing, private seclusion, travel, and sexual intercourse. It added that there is no harm, Islamically, in the husband having intercourse with his wife after the contract but before the wedding. However, if there is a fear of negative consequences resulting from this, then he should abstain. It is not necessary to inform the family, as this might lead to problems, but the spouses should be encouraged to expedite the consummation of the marriage for fear of pregnancy occurring.
