Would demanding a significant increase when exchanging gold jewelry for other pieces of the same type be considered usury (ribā)?

It is authentically reported from the Prophet (ﷺ) concerning gold: "Gold for gold, like for like, equal for equal, hand to hand." So, if a gold seller demands an increase over its weight, whether that increase is in weight or an increase in paper currency for the same weight, then that is usury (riba) and is impermissible. The sale of gold for gold must be like for like in weight, and nothing else, such as paper [money] or goods, may be added; otherwise, one falls into usury.
