What is the ruling on changing the prices of medicines in a pharmacy and selling them to customers at higher prices?

If changing the prices of medicines violates the prescribed pricing for the public interest, then it is impermissible, because the harm inflicted upon people by rising prices justifies the ruler's imposition of fair pricing. Regulations established for the public interest, the violation of which causes harm and corruption, must be adhered to. If medicines are subsidized by the state, then the prohibition against changing their prices is even stronger. It is not permissible to obey an employer in violating this; for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to Allah."
