Does the wooden table on which non-halal meat was placed become pure by cleaning it with soap and water, and will wet food placed on it later become impure if it is not purified by pouring water [over it]?

If meat is not slaughtered according to Islamic law, it is impure (najis) and will contaminate a damp table it touches. Wiping and using soap do not purify it. Any food placed directly on it before it is washed with water will be considered contaminated, unless the food is dry and the table is also dry. The table is purified by washing it with water, and it is permissible to place food on it thereafter. Vessels that absorb impurity cannot be used for prayer, but it is permissible to place food in them after washing them, because the impurity does not remain in them.
