What is the ruling on using electric insect and fly traps?

It is forbidden to use electric insect traps if they burn the insect, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prohibition of torture with fire, and Allah's command to be benevolent even when killing pests. However, if they kill by electrocution, then it appears permissible, because killing by electrocution is one of the fastest types of killing, and it is not among the forbidden types of killing.
