Is it permissible to pay the zakat on money invested in a bank from its interest?

If a bank does not adhere to Islamic Sharia, it is impermissible to deal with it or invest money in it, and funds must be withdrawn immediately. Zakat is paid on the original capital, not on usurious interest, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if you repent, you may have your principal – [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged." The interest must be disposed of by spending it on general Muslim welfare.
