The guardian does not have the right to prevent a woman from marrying a suitable match; otherwise, he would be unjustly preventing her marriage. She then has the right to take her case to a judge to marry her off. The criterion for suitability between spouses is religion. If the girl does not take her case to a judge, she is not permitted to marry without a guardian; for the marriage of a woman without a guardian is invalid according to the majority of scholars.
