What is the benefit of the mark of prostration, and what are the hadiths reported concerning it?

Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah has forbidden the Fire to consume the mark of prostration." This indicates that the people of prayer will be recognized on the Day of Resurrection by the marks of prostration. Scholars differed as to whether the mark of prostration refers specifically to the forehead or to the seven limbs; the former opinion is stronger. As it is mentioned in Surat Al-Fath, a description of the believers: "Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration."
