What is the ruling on Zakat in a trading or contracting company if one of the partners refuses to pay it? Is it obligatory for the remaining partners to pay Zakat for the entire company, or for their individual shares which may not reach the minimum threshold (Nisab)? Is it permissible to compel the refusing partner or to pay the Zakat without his knowledge?

The majority of scholars do not consider commingling to affect the giving of zakat for assets other than livestock. Therefore, zakat is not obligatory for someone whose wealth has commingled with another's wealth unless their own wealth reaches the nisab (minimum threshold) independently. The intention of the zakat payer or their appointed proxy is a condition for giving zakat. Individual Muslims are not permitted to compel others to pay zakat, as this is the right of the Imam (leader) or his representative. Partners are obligated to advise their co-partner to fulfill their right (of paying zakat).
