The answer

It is not permissible to use the zakat of a profitable company to support and rescue a losing company, because this constitutes paying zakat to oneself, which is not sufficient. Nor is it permissible for a partner to give his zakat to his co-partner in this situation if the co-partner has the means to repay his debt, and thus he is not among the recipients of zakat. Zakat must be paid to its rightful recipients, as mentioned in the words of Allah Almighty: "Indeed, zakat expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakat] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler - an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise."
