The answer

The marital relationship is based on love, compassion, understanding, overlooking mistakes, and considering the circumstances of the other. The husband must treat his wife with kindness. The wife is advised to be patient and gently counsel her husband, reminding him that treating one's wife well is among the ethics of the righteous. She can show her husband the words of scholars on this matter or seek the advice of righteous relatives. It is not permissible for the wife to supplicate against herself or transgress in supplication against her husband; rather, it is better to pray for goodness and righteousness for both of them. As for the husband breaking his covenant with Allah, he must repent. It is more cautious for him to offer an expiation for breaking an oath. For contracts and covenants impose a secondary obligation for what is already a religious obligation.
