When does the ‘iddah (waiting period) begin for a woman who learned of her husband’s death three months after his passing: Is it calculated from the day of his death or from the day she received the news?

The waiting period (iddah) for a woman whose husband has passed away begins from the moment of his death, even if she learns of his death later. If she learns of it during the iddah, she completes the remaining part of it. If she learns of it after its completion, then there is no iddah for her, even if she did not abstain from what is required of a woman in iddah. This is the view of the majority of jurists.
