Seeking knowledge, understanding the religion, and studying the Holy Qur’an are among the best acts of worship. If your intention is to benefit others and for the sake of Allah and the Hereafter, then this is not showing off (riya’) or (polytheism); rather, it is a righteous deed for which you will be rewarded. Riya’ is the minor shirk, such as performing a deed for people to see and praise you. One must be wary of this and perform deeds solely for Allah. There is no harm in praying from the (Qur’an) during the night prayers () out of necessity.
