What is sorcery (sihr), how is it treated with the Holy Quran, and is ruqyah (exorcism) permissible, and what is it?

Sorcery is defined as incantations, knots, and charms through which the sorcerer reaches a point of utilizing jinn to affect hearts and bodies with illness, death, or separation, as mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah. The cure for sorcery is through legitimate ruqyah from the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, such as Al-Fatihah, Ayatul Kursi, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Mu'awwidhatayn, and the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah. The person afflicted by sorcery can go to another to perform legitimate ruqyah on them. Supplication, seeking refuge in Allah, and reciting morning and evening remembrances are also beneficial. It is permissible to use lawful herbs, medications, and oil over which Quranic verses have been recited to undo sorcery. Among the signs of a person afflicted by sorcery are occasional seizures, sudden changes in disposition, and the manifestation of unusual behaviors.
