Parents must choose a good name for the newborn, one that is not unusual or strange to the society, and does not contain self-praise or ugly meanings, while avoiding names specific to followers of other religions. There is no harm in foreign names that have a good meaning.
It is disliked to name with names prefixed with the word (al-Din) or (al-Islam). It is forbidden to name females with names of angels or names that suggest lust. Among the good suggested names are: Amina, Shayma, Arwa, Aisha, Asma, Reem, Alya, Juwayriya, Rahma, Basma, Razan, Afaf, Zaynab, Sarah, Maymuna, Rania, Suad, Maryam, Salma, Noura, Sumayyah, Hajar.
