What are the types of religions that exist in the world?
Humanity, according to its religions, is divided into two categories: one category possesses a book revealed by God, such as Jews, Christians, and Muslims. The books of the Jews and Christians have been lost due to alteration, while the Holy Quran, the last of the divine books, God has guaranteed its preservation, as He says: (Indeed, it is We who sent down the Dhikr, and indeed, We will be its guardian). The other category does not possess a book revealed by God, such as Hindus and Buddhists.
Every nation has knowledge and work to achieve the interests of their worldly life, and this is a general guidance from God to every human and animal. Allah Almighty says: (Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, Who created and proportioned, And who destined and guided). And Moses, peace be upon him, said: (Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided it).
The people of religious faiths are more complete in beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. Knowledge and deeds are of two types: one type is acquired through reason, such as mathematics and medicine. This type is available to everyone, but the people of religious faiths are more complete in it. The second type is what can only be known through the news of the messengers, such as knowledge about God and His attributes and what is in the Hereafter. There is no way to acquire this through reason.
