What is the ruling on working and intermingling with the innovators (Ahl al-Bid'ah) among the Shia who curse the Companions and insult the Mother of the Believers, Aisha? Should their company and food be shunned, or should they be advised?

Scholars have permitted working for innovators (ahl al-bid'ah) and even disbelievers (kuffar), provided that the work does not involve anything prohibited or assist in it. They based this on the hadith of Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, which Al-Albani graded as hasan (good). As for the food of the people of innovation, it is permissible, unless their innovation constitutes disbelief (kufr), in which case their slaughtered animals (dhabaih) should not be eaten. However, it is permissible to eat other than their slaughtered animals. The Muslim should advise those who associate with them with wisdom and good admonition, and should not abandon them (boycott them) except for a benefit or to ward off a harm, such as one who fears for his religion from their influence.
