What is the ruling on clapping during prayer to alert the mother that one is praying?

You are permitted to clap to alert your mother that you are praying. You may even be obligated to interrupt your prayer to save your mother from danger. However, if there is no danger, then say "Subhanallah" (Glory be to Allah), because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever is faced with something (distracting) in his prayer, let him say 'Subhanallah'."
