Is the intention to remove major ritual impurity required before every prayer for one who is unable to perform ghusl, and if it is required, what are the implications of forgetting it once?
One who is unable to perform (ritual bath) due to (major ritual impurity) should perform (dry ablution) for each obligatory prayer. He should intend to make the prayer permissible, and he is not required to intend to remove the ritual impurity because tayammum does not remove it. If he forgets to have the intention present when performing tayammum for prayer, he must repeat that prayer as long as its time remains. If its time has passed, he is not required to repeat it. In the case of major impurity (janabah), it is necessary to have the related intention present. If one intentionally omits it, he must repeat the prayer forever; if he omits it due to forgetfulness, he must repeat it within the prayer's time.
