Adultery is a grave indecency and a heinous crime. It is uglier and more sinful when committed by a married woman, and her punishment is more severe than that of a virgin, due to her defiling the marital bed, betraying her husband, and the resulting confusion of lineages. The husband's sin of lacking jealousy and consuming intoxicants does not justify the wife's commission of this indecency. Therefore, she must repent sincerely and sever her relationship with the man with whom she committed the sin.
