What is the ruling on folk performances with swords and men beating tambourines, and who are the scholars who permitted that?

There is no harm in the 'Ardah (folkloric dance) if it is free from prohibitions, such as the use of musical instruments and the mixing of men and women, and if the words of the poems and chants are good and free from impermissible content. This is supported by the playing of the Sudanese with shields and spears on an Eid day, as mentioned in the Hadith (definition) of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).
