Is "strike them" in Surat An-Nisa, verse 34, intended to mean non-violent striking, and why might this type of striking solve marital problems?

God's rulings emanate from knowledge and wisdom, and all of them are truth and justice. Submission to them is obligatory, whether the wisdom behind them is known or unknown. There is no harm in seeking wisdom after acceptance and submission. The permitted striking of a disobedient wife is non-severe striking, intended for discipline and behavioral correction, not harm. It is a therapeutic approach that varies with each woman and may not be suitable in all cases. If it is not suitable, other legitimate means can be used.
