Is the Hadith "The Mahdi will not emerge until a third is killed, a third dies, and a third remains" authentic?

The hadith: "The Mahdi will not emerge until a third is killed, a third dies, and a third remains," has a weak chain of narration (isnaad) and is not authentically attributed to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). This is because its chain of narration includes Kaisan al-Qassar and his mawla Yazid ibn Bilal, both of whom are weak narrators.
