What is the ruling on reading the Quran in a house that has a dog?

There is no harm in removing a dog from the house; in fact, it is obligatory to remove it and not keep it inside, unless it is for hunting, farming, or guarding livestock. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for hunting, guarding livestock, or farming, will have two Qiraats deducted from his reward each day."
