What is the ruling on buying books marked "Not for sale, for donation only"?

Books inscribed with "Gift, Not for Sale" are subject to the ruling of endowment (waqf), because the donor's intention is to dedicate their usufruct. Therefore, it is impermissible to buy these books, as the condition set by the endower must be fulfilled, unless it contravenes Islamic law.
