Is it permissible to offer verbal congratulations and present gifts on birthdays and Mother's Day after their celebration has been forbidden?

Congratulating parents and giving them gifts on their birthdays is an imported custom, not practiced in the blessed eras. Doing so imitates and emulates the enemies of Allah, and "whoever imitates a people is one of them." A Muslim should consistently treat their parents with kindness every day.
