The answer

Seeking to help one's parents earn reward is commendable in Islamic law. Scholars have differed on the permissibility of reciting the Quran and dedicating its reward to living persons, with the Hanbalis and Hanafis permitting it. However, it is preferable that you recite the Quran in a way that your mother can hear it, so that she may benefit from the admonition and gain the reward of listening and reflecting. Listening to the Quran is an agreed-upon act of worship. She can also open the (copy of the Quran) and listen to the Quran from an audio recording while looking at the text.
