Can charity and supplication to God humbly avert a mother's wrath and nullify the sin of disobeying her, especially after her death? And does a mother's prayer against her daughter, invoked by God's wrath, become nullified if the daughter goes to a female dentist despite her mother's fear of harassment?

We congratulate you on your steadfastness, and we ask Allah to relieve your distress. We advise you to make abundant supplication (du'a), especially the supplication of the distressed and the worried. You must offer sincere repentance if you have fallen short in your duty towards your mother, and be diligent in honoring her after her death.

Obedience to parents is conditional on what benefits them and does not harm the child. Therefore, you do not sin by disobeying your mother regarding going to the dentist if there is no valid reason for her objection.

Increase your supplication and charity to ward off Allah's decrees. We alert parents to be cautious of supplicating against their children, for the supplication might be answered and they will regret it.
