Is playing the violin haraam (forbidden)? And does it fall under الشعراوي’s (Al-Sha'rawi's) saying that music is not forbidden if it is free from debauchery and flirtation? And does listening to music and reading the Qur'an imply a lack of faith? And is it possible to play while maintaining one's religion, duties, and prayers?

The violin is forbidden because it is a musical instrument. What has been attributed to Sheikh Al-Sha'rawi, we have not seen, and it should not be attributed to him except after verification. And if it were proven, then everyone's قول (statement/opinion) can be taken or left, except for that of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. If playing music is forbidden, then prayer forbids it, and loving music after knowing it is forbidden indicates weak faith.
