Adultery is a grave sin, and its offense is compounded if the woman is married, and its punishment is more severe. The adulterer must offer sincere repentance. A child born of adultery is attributed to the husband, not the adulterer, and its lineage is not disproven except through li'an (oath of condemnation). It is impermissible to corrupt a woman against her husband, and this is forbidden and a great sin. Marriage to a woman observing her (waiting period) is invalid, and they must be separated. The woman must complete her iddah before remarrying.
