Does the presence of a dog in the home's garden prevent the acceptance of the prayers of the home's occupants?

A Muslim is not permitted to raise or keep dogs, except for hunting, guarding, or as police dogs. If a dog is not for guarding or hunting, it is not permissible to keep it. If someone denies its presence [i.e., the dog's presence in their home] and others insist on keeping it, this does not harm them or diminish their reward. Rather, it diminishes the reward of those who insist on keeping it. Mingling with those who own dogs is permissible as long as ritual impurity does not transfer from them. If the intention behind keeping a distance from them is to reprimand them for abandoning the dog, then this is a legitimate action if an impact is hoped for from it.
