What is the ruling on raising pigeons based on the hadith "a devil follows a she-devil"?
Al-Albani and others authenticated the of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw a man following a pigeon and said: "A devil following a she-devil." The author of 'Awn al-Ma'bud explained that he was called a devil because of his distance from the truth and his preoccupation with what does not concern him, and she was called a she-devil because she causes heedlessness of the remembrance of Allah. Al-Nawawi said: Keeping pigeons for breeding, eggs, companionship, or carrying letters is permissible without any dislike. As for playing with them for augury, it is disliked, and if it involves gambling or the like, the testimony is rejected.
