The answer

A traveler is permitted to shorten prayers if their journey is lawful and reaches the recognized distance, even if they have relatives in the country they are traveling to. An exception to this is what the Hanbalis hold: if the traveler has a wife in that country or had married there previously, then in such a case, they must perform the prayers in full. However, the presence of other relatives such as mothers, fathers, paternal uncles, and maternal uncles does not prevent shortening the prayers.
