What is the ruling on purchasing a dining table made of silver?

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that eating and drinking from vessels of gold and silver is forbidden. This prohibition extends to all forms of use, except for what the Shariah has explicitly exempted or what is out of necessity. Therefore, it is not permissible to buy or use a dining mat made of silver, as this falls under the prohibition of eating and drinking from silver vessels, and it is a means to extravagance and ostentation.
