Is taking covers and papers from the workplace—with the permission of a worker and without his knowledge—obligatory upon one's conscience, and what are the consequences?

It is not permissible to take the aforementioned items except with explicit or customary permission from the responsible authority. If they are taken without permission, it is obligatory to seek absolution for them by asking for forgiveness, or by returning their like, or their value if they are damaged, and returning the actual item if it remains. One must refrain from doing this in the future, and do not underestimate the sin; for the believer sees his sin as great, while the wicked person sees it as small.
