"Displaying one's adornments (tabarruj) is a major sin, but no specific punishment has been prescribed for it; rather, it is subject to discretionary punishment (ta'zir). Killing a woman who displays her adornments is forbidden and a greater sin than tabarruj itself, and whoever does so is sinful and deserves retribution (qisas). The duty is to advise the woman who displays her adornments gently and kindly, to repeat the advice, and to seek assistance from religious people. It is permissible to boycott her and to prevent her from going out displaying her adornments, even by force, if this does not lead to a greater mischief. The negligent father must be advised and reminded of his responsibility, and assistance should be sought from scholars to advise him, while being careful not to offend him or be disobedient to him. One should also pray to Allah for guidance."
