What is the ruling on masturbation nowadays according to contemporary scholars and the Four Imams?

We have previously issued several fatwas clarifying the prohibition of masturbation, and that the assertion of its prohibition is the view of the majority of scholars from the Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali, and Hanafi schools, as well as the majority of contemporary scholars.
