How can one get rid of committing sins such as adultery and taking ill-gotten money, and transform into a righteous person?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Taking a Muslim's money unjustly and committing adultery are grave sins, both forbidden by Allah, and against which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned. A Muslim's blood, wealth, and honor are sacred. Taking money unjustly incurs Allah's wrath and is punishable in this world and the hereafter.

As for adultery, Allah warned against it, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that it strips its perpetrator of the quality of faith, and its doer will be tormented in the Fire. Adultery with a neighbor's wife is even more heinous and has severe negative consequences in this life.

To rid oneself of these grave sins, one must perform sincere repentance, return injustices, seek religious knowledge, choose righteous company, avoid temptations, lower the gaze, increase acts of obedience, change one's environment, and marry or fast for those who are unable to marry.
