Advocacy is the representation in disputes and pleading before the judiciary to repel injustice and secure rights. Its fundamental ruling is permissibility. The lawyer must defend only the one who has a right, and it is not permissible for him to support the oppressor, as Allah Almighty says: (And do not cooperate in sin and aggression) and (And do not argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves). Whoever disputes in falsehood while knowing it, remains in the wrath of Allah. Advocacy is divided into two types: advocacy for truth, which is permissible, and advocacy that defends both truth and falsehood, which is forbidden. The Muslim lawyer must fear Allah, advise their clients to fear Allah, observe rights, and work towards reform in society. For appropriate Islamic legal study, one can benefit from the curricula of Sharia (definition) and Law faculties and Islamic Sharia departments in Law faculties.
