Would the wife be sinful if she took religious books from her father's house to her husband's house without his knowledge, knowing that he does not read them and it is not believed that he would object?

You are not permitted to take these books without your father's permission, even if he does not read them, because they are his property. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The property of a Muslim person is not lawful [to take] except with his willing consent." You must repent to Allah and return the books to your father's house or seek his permission regarding them.
