What is the ruling on a woman buying men's clothing that resembles women's clothing, and is that considered imitation?

If men's clothing is specific to men, such as tracksuits, thobes, or shirts, it is not permissible for a woman to wear them for the purpose of imitation. However, if the clothing is common to both sexes, such as nightgowns, there is no harm in that. It is permissible for a woman to wear men's clothing if she is compelled to do so, for example, if she finds nothing else to cover her 'awrah in extremely poor countries.
