The Sharia has corrected this concept, emphasizing that Allah does not look at appearances or wealth, but at hearts and deeds, and that favoritism based on looks or lineage is a characteristic of Jahiliyyah (the pre-Islamic era of ignorance). A Muslim draws close to the pious and righteous, and parents must be just among their children and not prefer some over others, so that envy and malice do not spread among them.
